Noga Erez-Yodfat is a historian of ancient Greek religion, with a particular interest in mystery cults, sensory experience, and ancient beliefs about death and the afterlife. Noga received her PhD from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, where she examined the sensory and cognitive dimensions of Bacchic-Orphic initiation.
At the HCMH, Noga will be working on the project, Routes to Hades: Maritime Space and the Spatial Imagination of Death in the Ancient World, which explores the relationship between maritime space and ancient conceptions of death, the underworld, and journeys to the realm of the dead.
