Dr. Oded Cohen, HCMH’s research fellow, participated in the PIMo (People in Motion) second annual conference at the University of Granada on January 28-29, 2021. The theme of the conference was Paper: Material and Semiotic Mobility across the Global Mediterranean. In his lecture titled “’For this Wisdom has been Hidden for Many Years’: Rare Manuscripts and Printed Books in the Transition between The Land of Israel and Amsterdam” he discussed the cultural encounter between a Jewish wanderer from Hebron to the Spanish-Portuguese Jewish community in Amsterdam through a textual examination of two Hebrew books printed in Amsterdam in 1765.
