Yedidah Koren’s participation at the "Rabbinic Judaism and its Contexts" Conference

HCMH has partly sponsored Yedidah Koren’s (Tel Aviv University) participation at the “Rabbinic Judaism and its Contexts” conference held in the University of Chicago on November 10-11, 2019. In her lecture titled “Real and Imagined Jews Maintaining Genealogical Information”, Koren contrasted three ancient accounts of the way in which Jews maintained genealogical knowledge and inspected pedigree during the first two centuries CE. The three accounts differ greatly, and Koren showed how each of these accounts reflects, in different ways, the Roman and Mediterranean context in which they were created.
