Research fellow, Dr. Federico Ugolini, published a new article in BABESCH, Annual Papers on Mediterranean Archaeology

Dr. Federico Ugolini, HCMH research fellow, published a new paper in the journal BABESCH, titled “Shipping Adriatic Wines in the Roman Mediterranean: A Quantitative Approach”.

This paper explores the processes through which Adriatic wines were produced, consumed, shipped and traded across the Roman Mediterranean. Using archival, archaeological and pre-industrial comparative data on agricultural production, this paper also assesses the Adriatic ports’ relationships with their farming hinterlands, and their connections within the Mediterranean and the rest of the empire.

The paper won the Byvanck Award in December 2020.

Congratulations Federico!
