Mr. Roey Nickelsberg 2018-2021
Mr. Nickelsberg was raised in Arad, Israel. After serving in the army as a combat commander he acquired his undergraduate degree from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Archaeology. Interested in studying the maritime culture of the Levant, he then enrolled in the Department of Maritime Civilizations. Here he completed a geoarchaeological research on the Middle Bronze Age palace of Tel Kabri, under the supervision of Prof. Ruth Shahack-Gross and Prof. Assaf Yasur-Landau. He is now continuing into his Ph.D. project, with the aim of exploring the maritime adaptations of the Early Bronze Age population of the Carmel coast. Supervised by Prof. Assaf Yasur-Landau and Prof. Ruth Shahack-Gross, he will examine terrestrial and submerged archaeological remains in the Dor region, hoping to shed new light on a less understood phase of human maritime history.
