Dr. Marios Anastasiadis 2023-2024
Marios is an ancient historian with research interests in Greek slavery, economic history, ethnography, and ancient medicine. His time at HCMH will be devoted to completing a monograph on the life and labour of slaves in Archaic and Classical Greece as well as the strategies they used to negotiate, improve, and exit their condition of slavery. Among other things, he has most recently written articles on the medical treatment of slaves in the Greek world and (with David Lewis) on the term endothidia dola found in the Great Code of Gortyn. He completed his PhD in Classics at the University of Edinburgh in July 2024, having spent the year prior as a DAAD scholar in Berlin.
